Susann
has been designing attention getting headwear to compliment
and illuminate. Garnering attention from racegoers, function
devotees and fashion parade afficiondos with “Best Hat” winners, Fashion on the Field
finalists and outrageous couture parade accessories, she
works on the proviso, that being noticed for looking fabulous
is a great compliment to wearer and designer alike.
A 3rd generation Milliner
and Fashion designer entering the millinery
realm was a natural progression. Influences surrounding
her from childhood were grandparents, Henry and Cyn’s
exceptionally busy millinery factory in the 50's and 60’s
and mother Fashion Designer Judyth’s frequent world
trips sourcing the latest trends and fabrics.
Invaluable work experience
with the renowned Milliner Elizabeth R in Brisbane, and the
ensuing absolute joy and satisfaction in making beautiful
works of art to wear on your head, confirmed that this indeed
was something she loved to do. |

Artistically
minded and motivated, revelling in her Fashion Design
studies, which proved so productive she cornered the Paronella
Park Design Award 2003 from the graduating class.
Millinery
design involves keeping ahead of trends and applying the principles
of designing to flatter and accentuate.... working closely
with accurate colour matching.... to determine balance
in style and form… using creative, artistic
imagination in design. When working with clients, applying
these principles with consideration to the individuals’ requirements,
are paramount to the success and satisfaction of the Millinery
experience.
An experienced TAFE teacher
in the subject of Millinery, her recent courses have demystified
some of the complexity involved, much to the enjoyment of
students.
Susann has been a contributor
to the English publication “The Hat Magazine” promoting the
Cairns Amateurs Carnival which is held annually in September
and is a showcase of North Queensland Fashion and Millinery
expertise. |
